Greece Paragliding Trip 2008

Feedback from paraglider pilots who went on the Greece paragliding trip organised by Flybubble in October 2008...

Hi Carlo/Nancy,
Many thanks for a fantastic flying holiday.
Well here we go, feedback time:-
The pre trip information had everything in it that I needed to do or think about.
The group size was small, which in turn made you feel that looking after us was important.
The location was fantastic for all standards of pilot and with the hotel on the beach...
Carlo, Nancy and Stelios all had the appearance of being totally in control and yet calm as you like. Could that be the Swan system - calm on the surface yet paddling like mad underneath. What ever it was it worked for me.
I had a great time flying, eating, swimming... lets just say I had a great time.
Have dropped my photos in the post today.

Hi Carlo and Nancy,
Here is a bit of feedback for you...
First of all; I thought the pre-trip information and organisation was first rate. Everything was provided well in advance and all of your checklists were a great help to jog the memory in relation to equipment issues.
During the trip your calm reassuring way of dealing with a group of pilots with varying skills and abilities was fantastic. You managed to assist and provide feedback and advice to all of us throughout the week which was a great help and much appreciated.
The range and variety of flying sites were excellent as were the site briefings...
The airport transfers went smoothly, the hotel was good and the food was great!

Hi,
Am trying to think of something to criticise but can't. Even before the trip you seemed to have everything thought of, and as for the trip its self I can't fault it.
The accomodation was nice, clean and overlooking a beach.
There was plenty of different sites to choose from and all of them had amazing views.
As for the flying I thought you did everything possible to get us up in the lift.
You were helping out on the radio when you were on the ground and finding the best areas when flying; short of you actually flying the glider for us I can't see what more you could of done.
Would recommend one of your trips to anyone.

You have obviously been doing this for some time and it shows.
The evening meals at different venues were a good idea...
A resident magician was inspirational.
I would gladly go back on another trip but can't do February as my wife would kill me...

Hi Carlo and Nancy,
Here's my feedback on the trip:
Pre-trip planning (communication, check-lists, etc): Thorough and helpful.
Flying sites: Good number and variety of sites within a reasonable distance. Good take-offs. From a flying perspective, I thought the area offered lots of options in terms of wind direction and thermalling and soaring sites, which increased the chances of flying.
Scenery: Beautiful up in the hills... I thought the area was good if you were going there to spend time in the mountains - flying, walking, biking, etc. The scenery was lovely, the climate was nice and it looked as if you could get away from it all if you wanted to.
Coaching: Excellent, both on the ground and in the air. Crucial on a couple of occasions for staying in the air and subsequently enjoying long flights.
Local guide: Excellent; very experienced and knowledgeable; light touch; decisive...
You and Stelios were a good combination. Stelios had the local knowledge to enable the group to maximise its chances of flying while you provided coaching on the ground and in the air which meant that I was able to stay in the air longer and improve my flying skills. I felt that the two of you working together added an extra layer of safety too. The combination worked particularly well for me at Sikourio, with Stelios getting us there... while it was good and you coaching us in the air.
I thought the area offered a lot of potential for flying and, like you, felt that we only scratched the surface.
I would certainly consider going back there again...

Carlo,
In terms of feedback... the preparatory e-mails were very comprehensive... flights and transfers were efficient... the hotel was well staffed and friendly...
Our Olympic Wings hosts were very welcoming and clearly had a unique knowledge of the area and each of the flying sites within it. They also communicated the relevant key safety messages clearly and concisely.
In terms of evening meals, etc, there was a good balance between having an fixed schedule and having the flexibility to manage our own.
I would definitely consider coming again - there were a number of flying sites we didn't conquer, and the conditions might allow for a very different flying experience next time.
All in all, a really first class holiday!
